Aix-en-Provence has been based by Romans in the 2nd century BC and owns the rich historical inheritance. Many important events of Roman and France's history are associated with this city. In Middle Ages Aix-en-Provence, not nearby Marseilles, was the capital of the Provence county. And later the parliament of Provence sat here. Now Aix-en-Provence is a very popular place with the tourists. There are many monuments and fine palaces of the previous epochs in the city.
