Francois Joseph Heim, French famous painter, was born at Belfort (Franche-Comte) on the 16 of December 1787. In 1803 he entered the Paris studio of Vincent and in 1807 he won there the first prize. Since that time he obtained quite a few prizes and gold medals. In 1824, after he exhibited the canvas of the Massacre of the Jews, he was rewarded with the Legion of Honor. His other main paintings are: The Return of Jacob, the Resurrection of Lazarus and the Martyrdom of St Cyr. Heim is far-famed for his decorative paintig. He worked as decorator at the Conference room of the Chamber of Deputies and the Charles X Louver Gallery. Francois Joseph Heim is renowned master of portret paintig, especially of full-length portraits. In 1855 he exhibited at the Salon a curious collection of portraits, no less than sixteen canvases. In 1859 he again sent to the Salon the same great many canvases.
